  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon sweet relish
  • 6 slices cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Butter one side of each slice of rye bread and set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef with pepper, salt, and onion powder. Form into three equal patties.
  3. Preheat a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for about 2–3 minutes per side; lower heat and continue cooking for an additional 5 minutes until fully cooked.
  4. Use a digital thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  5. While patties cook, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, relish in a small bowl.
  6. In another skillet on medium-low heat, place one slice of buttered bread down. Layer with two slices of cheddar cheese, one patty, and two slices of Provolone cheese.
  7. Spread sauce over the unbuttered side of another slice of bread and place sauce-side down on top. Cook each side for about 2–3 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Repeat for remaining patties and serve warm.
