  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 2 cups milk (whole or 2%)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F (180C) and lightly grease a 2-quart baking dish.
  2. Cook elbow macaroni in salted boiling water until al dente; drain.
  3. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and whisk in flour for about 60 seconds to create a roux.
  4. Gradually add milk while whisking continuously until thickened enough to coat the back of a spoon.
  5. Lower heat and fold in cheeses until melted; season to taste.
  6. Combine macaroni with cheese sauce until thoroughly coated.
