Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 2 cup shredded pepper jack cheese
  • 3 jalapenos (seeded and diced)
  • ¼ cup cooked chicken or turkey (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp sriracha sauce
  • ½ cup all purpose flour
  • ½ cup panko bread crumbs
  • ½ cup plain bread crumbs
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 eggs (beaten)
  • Peanut oil or canola oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded pepper jack cheese, diced jalapeños, chopped chicken or turkey, and sriracha sauce. Stir until well mixed.
  2. Scoop out portions of the mixture and roll them into balls. Place these on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Freeze for about 30 minutes to help them hold their shape while frying.
  3. Prepare three bowls: one with all-purpose flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with panko bread crumbs, plain bread crumbs, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and salt.
  4. In your deep fryer or large pot, heat oil to 350°F. Use a thermometer to ensure accuracy.
  5. Remove each ball from the freezer. Dip it first into the flour mixture, then into the beaten eggs, and finally roll it in the breadcrumb mixture until fully covered.
  6. Carefully place several coated balls in hot oil. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Fry in batches if needed to avoid overcrowding.
  7. Use a slotted spoon to remove cooked Jalapeno Popper Bites from oil. Place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
