  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh oregano
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk or water
  • Everything bagel seasoning
  • Additional grated Parmesan cheese
  • Dried Italian herbs

Instructions

  1. 1. Activate the yeast by mixing warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl; let sit until foamy (5–10 minutes).
  2. 2. Combine flour and salt in another bowl. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil; mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. 3. Knead on a floured surface for 6–8 minutes until smooth. Let rise in an oiled bowl covered for about 1–1.5 hours until doubled.
  4. 4. Prepare the cheese filling by combining cream cheese, mozzarella, Parmesan, herbs, garlic, and spices.
  5. 5. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle; spread the filling over it leaving borders. Roll tightly into a log and twist to shape.
  6. 6. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle toppings if desired. Bake at 375°F for 25–30 minutes until golden.
