  • 1 1/2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts (cut into 1-inch pieces)
  • 2 eggs (beaten)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (reduced sodium)
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Sliced green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the beaten eggs with salt and pepper. In another shallow bowl, mix the flour and cornstarch.
  2. Dip each chicken piece in the egg mixture, then coat evenly with the flour-cornstarch mix.
  3. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C) and fry chicken pieces in batches until golden brown (about 5 minutes). Drain on paper towels.
  4. For the sauce, sauté minced garlic in vegetable oil, then add honey, soy sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, rice vinegar, toasted sesame oil, and cornstarch. Simmer until thickened.
  5. Toss fried chicken in the sauce and garnish with sesame seeds and green onions before serving.
