  • 24 ounces stale brioche bread (or French, Challah, Texas toast)
  • ½ cup chopped pecans (optional)
  • 8 large eggs
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • ¼ cup real maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ½ cup butter (sliced)
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar

Instructions

  1. 1. Grease the slow cooker insert with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. 2. Cube the stale bread into 1-inch pieces and layer them with pecans in the slow cooker.
  3. 3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, whole milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  4. 4. Pour the egg mixture over the bread and gently stir to coat all pieces. Let sit for a couple of hours if time allows.
  5. 5. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon in another bowl; sprinkle over the soaked bread. Top with slices of butter.
  6. 6. Cover and cook on HIGH for 2 to 2½ hours or LOW for 3 to 4 hours until set.
