  • 1 egg
  • 2 small coriander roots
  • 2 tsp black peppercorns
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1/4 cup carrots (finely diced)
  • 2 tbsp green onions (finely chopped)
  • 2 dried shiitake mushrooms (soaked and finely chopped)
  • 3 tbsp golden mountain sauce
  • 1 1/2 tbsp white sugar
  • 2 1/2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • Dumpling wrappers
  • 1 1/2 tbsp sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare spices: Crush coriander roots, black peppercorns, and garlic using a mortar and pestle until finely ground.
  2. Mix sauces: In a bowl, combine golden mountain sauce, white sugar, sesame oil, and oyster sauce; mix well.
  3. Blend filling: Add ground beef to a blender with the sauce mixture from step two, egg, and cornstarch. Pulse until smooth.
  4. Combine ingredients: Pour the blended filling into a bowl; add the crushed spice mixture and diced vegetables. Mix well.
  5. Shape dumplings: Place a wrapper over a tablespoon. Press to form a well, fill with mixture, moisten edges with water, fold up edges, and pinch to seal.
  6. Steam dumplings: Line your steamer with parchment paper and steam over medium heat for about 10 minutes until wrappers are translucent.
